Economic News Risk Planner
for Prop Firm Traders.
High-impact news like NFP, CPI and FOMC can widen spreads, cause slippage and skip your stop. Enter your normal trade setup and the event impact to get a reduced lot size, a wider stop and the time window to stay out of.
Your normal trade
The setup you would take on an ordinary day without news.
News event
Pick the impact level to fill in a starting point, then adjust the numbers to fit your instrument.
Impact levelHigh: red-folder releases such as CPI or retail sales.
How the news plan is built
Rate the event
The bigger the event, the more you cut risk, widen the stop and allow for slippage. The presets are starting points you can edit.
Resize the trade
A wider stop with the same lot size means a bigger loss. The planner shrinks the lot size so the loss stays inside your reduced risk, slippage included.
Respect the window
If your firm restricts trading near news, the planner shows the exact time window to be flat or have no orders open.
Check your firm's rulebook: news rules differ between firms. Some block opening or closing trades within a set number of minutes of red-folder events, some only apply this on funded accounts, and some void profits made inside the window. The impact presets are planning guides, not rules. The default pip value of $10 per lot suits most USD-quoted forex pairs, so change it for gold, indices or JPY pairs. Always confirm the event time on an economic calendar.
Tools help you prepare. A clear process helps you apply them.
