Position Size Calculator
for Gold & Forex.
Enter your balance, the amount you are willing to risk and your stop-loss. The calculator returns the lot size that keeps your loss at the level you planned.
Trade details
All amounts are in USD (account currency).
Advanced settings
Three inputs decide your lot size
Decide what you can lose
Risk is a percentage of your balance or a fixed dollar amount. 1% of a $1,000 account is $10.
Measure the stop-loss
The distance from entry to your invalidation level, in pips. A wider stop means a smaller position for the same risk.
Convert to lots
Risk is divided by the loss per lot at your stop. The result is rounded down so you never risk more than planned.
Gold note: the calculator assumes 100 oz per lot and 1 pip = $0.10 (a $1.00 move = 10 pips), the common MT4/MT5 convention. Some brokers differ, so adjust the values under Advanced settings if yours do.
